Obituary

Frederick James Grafton Jr., age 75, passed away at his home in Quincy, MA on Saturday, June 27th, 2020. Fred was born and raised in South Boston to Frederick James Grafton Sr. "Buddy" and Virginia Florence Bean. He spent most of his life in Southie only recently moving to Quincy a few years back.

He was very inventive and good with his hands, making his living as a boilermaker in local 29, where he worked for decades. He also loved gardening and had quite the green thumb even working for a time with the Boston Public Gardens.

Fred was known as a man of few words and can be described as a freethinker by those who knew him best. Yet, when he did have something to say he was a straight shooter that knew "how to tell it like it was." This honesty and also his generosity will be missed by many.

He was the loving husband of the late Deborah (Stokes) Grafton, who passed away in 2009. He is survived by his cherished sons Derick Grafton, Daniel Grafton, Daryl Grafton and his wife Elena. Loving grandfather of Daniel Henry Brooks. Stepfather of Eva Sweeney and grandfather to her children Bernard Sweeney, Ericka Sweeney and Matthew Sweeney. Brother-in-law to Theresa Stokes, Pamela Surrette and her husband Pete. Brother of Richard Grafton, Janice Watson, Russell "Skippy" Grafton, Nancy Newman and Harry Grafton. Also, survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins including nephew Ryan Logsdon. Brother of the late Walter Grafton, Robert Grafton, Cynthia Grafton, Judith Willard, Linda Grafton, Rosalie O'Connor, Virginia "Ginger" Grafton, and Diane Ferrie.

Visiting hours with prayer will be held Sunday, July 12th, 2020 from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. at the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston, MA.
