Wyolene Bennett Walker, 90, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Cypress Pond Senior Care in Tifton. A private family graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Walker on Friday, July 10, 2020, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Chip Grantham will officiate.
Born on December 2, 1929 in Albany, Mrs. Walker was the daughter of the late Jay Frank Bennett and Lillian Mixon Bennett. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Bennett and Jim Bennett. She attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville for two years. She was a homemaker and she enjoyed her garden club and her bridge club.
On January 2, 1949, she married Edwin Walker in Albany. They lived most of their lives in Tifton. They were both active members of the First United Methodist Church of Tifton. They remained married until Mr. Walker’s death in December 2018, just two weeks short of their 70th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Walker is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ben and Marty Walker of Jacksonville, Florida and Ed and Jan Walker and Wesley Walker, all of Tifton; six grandchildren, Lauren, Matt, Kevin, Abbey, Erin and John; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Pippin of Albany.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and sincere appreciation to the staff of Maple Court and Cypress Pond and to Hospice of Tift Area for their loving care of Mrs. Walker.
