Obituary

BUXTON – With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Emily Jean Roberts, age 63, after a courageous battle with various non-COVID-19 ailments on July 6, 2020.

She was born in Biddeford, Maine on February 3, 1957, the daughter of Alden and the late Charlene (Flanagan) Ramsdell Jr. After marrying her high school crush, Ronald Roberts, in 1973 and attending Bonny Eagle High School, Class of 1975, she raised her son, Cory, and daughter, Shelly. When both her children were old enough to attend elementary school, Emily embarked on her career in hairstyling upon her graduation from Pierre’s School of Cosmetology in 1984. Her personality and love of people were the backbone of Emily’s highly successful career of 30 years in the hairstyling business, of which she owned and operated Village Hair in Gorham, Maine, for 20 years until her retirement in 2014.

Emily loved her family and friends immensely and all could feel it deeply, always, when in her presence. She was very passionate about family, initiating family gatherings from corn feeds when the kids were young, holidays before and after the death of her mother, to get-togethers with siblings (her very dearest of friends). Emily tried hard to keep the family connected through the years. She just wanted everyone together, happy.

She is predeceased by her mother, Charlene Ramsdell who passed away in 2008.

Emily is survived by her beloved husband, Ronald Roberts; her children, Cory Roberts and his wife Despina of Danvers, Massachusetts and Shelly Warren and her husband Justin of Limington; father Alden Ramsdell Jr. of Buxton; sister Lynn Steeves and her husband Billy of Buxton; sister Denice McCormick of Standish; sister Robin Day and her husband Stevie of Hollis; brother Kevin Ramsdell and his wife Petra of Hollis; sister Terry Carson of Buxton; five grandchildren, Quinlan, Katina, Chloe, Cassandra and Tyson; sister-in-law Gerry Gannett of Hollis; sister-in-law Teeny Junkins and her husband Wade of Waterboro; and remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
