Josephine C. (McLaughlin) Ward, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at her home in Charlestown. She was 88 years of age.
Josephine was born in Boston on October 5, 1931, a daughter of the late John P. McLaughlin and Mary (Amann) McLaughlin. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1950. Josephine was a homemaker most of her adult life where she took great pride and love in taking care of her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time, Josephine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, reading and visiting the Golden Age Center in Charlestown. She was always willing to help anyone in need at anytime in her life.
Josephine is the beloved wife of the late Francis X. "Red" Ward. She is the devoted mother of John J. Ward and his wife Eileen, Kathleen A. Getchell and her husband Jake, Maureen D. Puglielli and her late husband Domenic, Daniel B. Ward and his companion Elisa Beth and the late Francis X. Ward Jr. and his surviving wife Jane. She is the loving Nana to Kristina, Anthony, Emily, Stephanie, Brian, Kathy, Jacqueline, Domenic, Michael and her 11 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late Mary Devlin, Rita Feeley, Ann Doherty, Helen "Dimps" McLaughlin, Frank McLaughlin and John McLaughlin. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Josephine's visiting hour on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M.(FACIAL COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED INSIDE FUNERAL HOME & CHURCH). Her burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
