Obituary

PORTER- Pauline “Ponnie” Hamlin, passed away on July 3, 2020 at her home in Porter. She was born on February 25, 1930 in Cambridge, MA, daughter of Marjorie Hazel Mayberry Hamlin and Henry Perkins Hamlin of Casco, ME. Ponnie graduated from Cambridge Latin and was the first and only woman to graduate from the Institute Of Management Education in 1962.
Ponnie started going to camp at the age of 6 in Eaton, NH and remained there as a counselor (etc.) and became a resident of Eaton.
She loved bowling, hunting & fishing, mountain climbing, skiing, motorcycling, and snowmobiling.
She worked at HH Scott Electronics in Maynard, MA, Vulcan Electric & Beau Tech in Kezar Falls. When Beau Tech sold it was moved to Ponnie’s property where she ran it until it finally moved to Portland, ME. At that time, she built a large barn which housed 26,000 broiling chickens. When the broiling industry went out, she raised replacements and laying hens for Cohen Egg Farms.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, a life partner, Susan Hartman and Hanni Meyers (her mountain climbing buddy), her beloved church friends and longtime friends Rusty Stewart and her son Bobby Stewart.
Memorial services and burial will be held at a later date.
