WORCESTER-Helen T. (Kelly) Gill, 76, died Wednesday, February 22nd at home, surrounded by her family. She leaves her husband of 47 years, Edward J. Gill, Sr., 3 sons, Edward J. Gill, Jr., M.D. of Richmond, VA, Thomas J. Gill of LaPlata, MD and Timothy K. Gill of Tolland, CT, 2 daughters, Maryellen Gill of Southbridge and Nancy M. Gorneau of Gorham, ME, a sister, Mary Margaret “Peg” Vacca of Worcester, and 7 grandchildren. A son John P. Gill and her brother Timothy J. Kelly both died in 2004.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Timothy J. and Mary M. (Haran) Kelly. Mrs. Gill was a graduate of St. Stephen’s High School, Our Lady of the Elm’s College and received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Worcester State College. She taught in the Worcester Public School System for several years. Mrs. Gill was a long time and active member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish and School and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She volunteered for several organizations including the Mustard Seed, the Mother’s Club and Our Lady of Angels CCD. Helen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother with a real zest for life. She had a strong sense of family and giving herself to others. Her generosity greatly impacted many people’s lives. She was loved by all who knew her.
The funeral is Saturday, February 25th, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Friday, February 24th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
