Helen Ruth Crumley Gibbs, 95, of Chula passed away Friday, July 3, 2020, at her residence. A private family funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2020, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe and the Rev. Joseph Crumley officiating. Mrs. Gibbs will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
Born on January 5, 1925 in Cleburne County, Alabama, Mrs. Gibbs was the daughter of the late Henry Robert Crumley, Sr. and Lillie Beatrice Williamson Crumley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James P. “Jim” Gibbs; and one brother, J. W. Crumley. She was retired from the University of Georgia Diagnostic Lab and a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. She enjoyed working at the Diagnostic Lab, working in her yard and growing flowers. She also enjoyed going to church and attending Sunday school and loved her family dearly.
Mrs. Gibbs is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lendon David and Elaine Gibbs of Royston and Michael Levane Gibbs of Tifton; one brother, Henry Robert Crumley, Jr. of Omega; one sister, Jemique Crumley Harrell of Moultrie; and two granddaughters, Vickie Gibbs and Diane Gibbs Smith.
