Joanna M. (Poggi) Sarrica 67, of Franklin, died peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, Thursday July 2, 2020 following an illness. She was the beloved wife of Frank J. Sarrica, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.
Joanna was the Matriarch of her family and kept everyone close together under one roof. Her family circle was small but strong.
She enjoyed caring for and spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, watching her favorite shows and Happy Draw on her iPad.
Joanna was born May 22, 1953 and grew up in Dorchester, Massachusetts, after high school worked in accounting at MIT in Cambridge, MA.
She was a loyal, loving friend always giving sound advice often using her amazing insight and whit.
The daughter of the late Sergio J. (Sarge) and Agnes M. (Bongiorno) Poggi and granddaughter of the late Francesca (D’Amico) Bongiorno (Nana). She was predeceased in death by her Son, Frank J. Sarrica, Jr. (Frankie), aunt Jane Sciaba, father-in-law Salvatore (Pa) Sarrica and his wife Giovanna.
Joanna is survived by her husband Frank, her daughter, Lorraine (Sarrica) Gibbons and husband Ken, loving NaNa of three grandchildren, Gianna, Ryan and Ava, sister Janice C. Poggi, sister-in-law Joanne and husband Rich Chaiton, brother-in-law George Sarrica and wife Kathleen, brother-in-law Mario Sarrica, nephews Bobby and Anthony, nephew David and Niece Maryellen.
Joanna’s funeral Mass and interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery will be held privately.
