Theresa I. (Racine) Hallett, 91, of Dartmouth passed away Monday June 29, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Carl W. Hallett.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Victor and Rachel (DeSorcy) Racine, she lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven before moving to Dartmouth 15 years ago.
Mrs. Hallett was formerly employed in the Nursing Department at St. Luke’s Hospital for 17 years until her retirement.
She enjoyed knitting and cooking. She attended programs at the Dartmouth Senior Center.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Soucy and his wife Margaret, and Steven Soucy and his fiancée Monica Stiegler; her son-in-law, Thomas Darling; two brothers, George Racine and his wife Claire and Normand Racine and his wife Phyllis; her sisters-in-law, Barbara Racine and Madeline Simmons; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Darling, Kate Darling, Steven Soucy, Catherine Graham, Norman Soucy, Christopher Soucy, Anne McIsaac, Michael Soucy, and Mary Strickland; 10 great-grandchildren; her best friend, Angie Leite and her family; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Darling, and her siblings, Roland Racine, Louis Racine, Doris Donohue, and Donald Racine.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday July 2, 2020 at 11 AM at St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday morning from 9-10:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of one’s choice. All attendees are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing. The attendance limit at church will be 95 persons and capacity will also be limited at the funeral home.
