Rebecca Annette Roberts, 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, June 28, 2020, at her daughter’s residence in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Christian Fellowship with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Roberts was born February 11, 1939, to the late Sally McCranie Meeks. She was raised by her mother and step-father, George Meeks. She was a 1957 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and earned an Associates degree from South Georgia College. She played basketball in high school as well as college and still retained detailed notes of each game she played. She was the treasurer of her high school reunion group. She worked as a legal assistant for several local attorneys including Emory Walters, Hugh Gordon and Terrence Paulk. She enjoyed traveling the country watching her son drag race. Mrs. Roberts loved spending weekends on the river and cooking for her family. She loved the color red!! She was a member of Christian Fellowship.
She is survived by her children: Josh & Gina McClelland of Fitzgerald, Denise Roberts of Ocilla, and Kim Roberts Youngblood of Tifton; grandchildren: Christina McClelland and her fiancé Michael Wise, Joshua McClelland, Garrett Burch, Deanna Thompson, Brandi & David Pendergrass, John Evan Smith, Dwayne & Ashley Youngblood, and Brooke Youngblood; great-grandchildren: Gage Stubbs, Christian Sewell-Ross, Emma Jane Smith, Alivia Smith, Kristopher Smith, John David Smith, Hayden Dennard, Cameron Youngblood, Payne Youngblood, and Ryder Thompson; siblings-in-law: Joan & Wayne Register of O’Brien, Florida, Tommy L. & Sharon Roberts of Fitzgerald; Jimmy L. Roberts of Fitzgerald and Kathryn Skuza of Fitzgerald and her very best friend, Sue VanGorder of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John David Roberts, Jr.
