Obituary

Tanina A. Palermo, 95 years old - of Woburn, formerly of Arlington, MA, and New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away on June 29, 2020, from complications related to Covid-19.

Born in Norwood, MA, she was the daughter of the late Lucio and Adeline (Gentile) Turco. Tanina was raised and educated in Cambridge, where she met the love of her life, Carlo Palermo, in church. A war bride, she and Carlo married while he was serving in the Army during World War II. They remained happily married for over 50 years until his death in 2002.

While living in Arlington, Massachusetts, Tanina was a real estate broker and started her own small company. Her specialty was in rental real estate whereby she helped many people find suitable housing.

In Florida she volunteered with the Beautification Committee in New Smyrna Beach, actively leading projects to enhance city parks. Other volunteer activities included the Job Service of Volusia County, helping people find jobs with local employers. She also enjoyed 16 years of volunteer work in the gift shop of Fish Memorial Hospital in New Smyrna Beach.

Tanina' s hobbies were cooking, line dancing, playing bocce and playing cards with her many friends. She was the life of the party, telling wonderful funny stories, and she especially loved her family and gatherings.

Mrs. Palermo is lovingly survived by her daughters Victoria Cavicchi and her husband Paul of Andover, and Andriana Buckley and her husband Michael of Winchester. She was the devoted grandmother of Jennifer Rossi and her husband Michael of Sudbury, Nicole Keefe of Tyngsboro, and Laura Recupero and her husband Brendan of Norwell, and is further survived by 6 great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Peter, Hannah, Erin, Sophia and Olivia. Tanina was also the dear sister of Kenneth Turco and his wife Carolyn of Peabody, and her sister Mary Noonan and her late husband David of Lexington, and was pre-deceased by her brother Rosario Turco and his late wife Dorothy, and leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
