Obituary

Mr. John J. Stanin, 93, of North Andover passed away at home on June 28, 2020. Son of the late Robert and Mary (Stanin) Stewart, he was born on January 14, 1927 in Lawrence and had been an area resident all his life. Mr. Stanin was educated in the Lawrence and North Andover school systems. He served honorably in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. After returning home Mr. Stanin worked in research and development for A.D. Littles, Cambridge Corp, AEC, and retireed from Avco - Textron after 32 years. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association Inc., for 48 years. Mr Stanin built and flight tested several home built aircraft, was a member of the former St. Francis Church in Lawrence and St. Michael Church in N. Andover. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family and his fellow pilots at Plum Island and Lawrence airports . He is the widower of Natalie J. (Surawski) Stanin. Mr. Stanin is survived by one son; Steven Stanin and his wife RuthAnn (Bourbeau)of Salem, NH, two granddaughters; Julie and her husband Robert E. Beal III of East Kingston, NH, Katelyn and her husband Benjamin Edwards of Epping, NH.
