Obituary

Bobby Ray Hodges, 63, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Hodges was born April 4, 1957, in Brunswick, Georgia, to Wylene Blalock Hodges of Valdosta and the late J.W. Hodges, Sr. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy having been stationed in France and Italy. He worked as an electrician and also worked in industrial maintenance for American Blanching. He loved riding motorcycles and ATVs as well as horseback riding. He enjoyed watching football and was an avid Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Falcons fan. He listened to lots of music and particularly enjoyed Lynyrd Skynyrd, CCR, Bob Seger, and Eddie & the Cruisers. He was a man of faith with love and trust for his God in Heaven and he dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Wilcox County.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Sue Rowe Hodges of Fitzgerald; a son, Edgar Lee Hodges of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Nicole Hodges, Allie Meeks, Jackson Meeks, Olivia Burst, and an adopted grand CheyAnne Warren; siblings: Lona Sue & Guy Turberville of Valdosta, Johnston William “Jake” Hodges, Jr. & Diane of Cordele, Eldridge & Judy Hodges of Pitts, and Melissa & Matt Davis of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews including a niece that he helped to raise, Kathy & Justin Poole of Fitzgerald; a special uncle, Bobby & Jennie Hodges of Swainsboro; and two brothers-in-law, Tiny Rowe and Troy Rowe.
