Marjorie Highsmith, 59, of Tifton passed away Friday, June 26, 2020, at her sister’s residence in Ambrose. A graveside funeral service will be held for Ms. Highsmith at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Lax, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Mitchell Deems and the Rev. Sammy Reed will officiate. There will be a reception in the social hall of Union Primitive Baptist Church in Lax immediately following the service. The family will be meeting at the home of Hattie Highsmith, 5834 Highway 268 East in Ambrose.
Born July 31, 1960 in Orlando, Florida, Ms. Highsmith was the daughter of Robert L. and Shirley Highsmith of Cleveland and Myram Hutto Stephens and her husband, Gerald of Jesup. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Charity Mayo and Kimberly Arrington. She was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Highsmith is survived by three daughters, Notasha Rodriguez, Amanda Reyes and Charlotte Lorenzana, all of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Barbara Highsmith of Dade City, Florida; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marie and Len Dick of Chula, Hattie Highsmith of Ambrose, Teresa Harper and Jan Merrifield, both of Tifton, her twin sister, Marsha Laster and her husband Phil of Jesup and Sherry and Sammy Reed of Germantown, Ohio; one step-brother, Terry Stephens; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several aunts and uncles; and several cousins.
