Obituary


Barbara A. Maguire, a longtime Wilmington resident formerly of Stoneham, passed away peacefully, June 23, 2020, at the Advinia Care Facility of Wilmington following a lengthy period of declining health. She was 88. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Maguire. Born in Medford she was one of nine children of the late Michael F. and Ellen E. (Coliton) Hogan.

Barbara was raised and educated in Stoneham. She worked for many years as a cashier for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Works. Prior to her husband passing, together they enjoyed traveling, socializing with friends and family and also loved ballroom dancing. Barbara was a woman who had a strong Catholic faith and was an active parishioner of St. Dorothy Church here in Wilmington where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality and also taught CCD for many years. She was also an active member at the Buzzell Senior Center where she enjoyed participating in different activities and fostered many wonderful friendships over the years. She will be sadly missed.

Barbara is lovingly survived by her special niece and caregiver, Patricia Spurr and her husband Richard of Wilmington. She is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Louise Constantine, Margaret Mahoney, Dorothea Rush, Jeanne Minghella, Edward, Francis, Eileen and Marion Hogan.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the Dello Russo - Cavanaugh family Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Friday, June26th, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Dorothy Church, Main Street, Wilmington, at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to the Thomas & Edwina Devlin Scholarship Fund, 34 Pleasant Street, Stoneham, MA 02180.
