Obituary

Ilidia (Fernandes) DaRosa, 82, of New Bedford passed away peacefully from a long-term illness on Sunday, June 21, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late John DaRosa.

Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Henrique and Adelina (Pires) Fernandes, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.

Mrs. DaRosa was formerly a seamstress until her retirement.

She enjoyed listening and dancing to Creole music and loved being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Diana De Andrade, Kathleen Rumsey and Donna Medeiros; her siblings, Auxilia DaSilva, Rosemary Fernandes and Henry Fernandes; seven grandchildren; Jason De Andrade, Jamie De Andrade, Meagan De Andrade, Justina (DaRosa) Perry, Danielle (DaRosa) Perry, Kayli Medeiros and Sydney Rumsey; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late John Steven DaRosa.

God made a special place for her in Heaven and she will be missed and loved forever.
