Obituary

Charles A. Harding, 70, of New Bedford passed away suddenly on Sunday June 7, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Brenda S. (Freeman) Harding.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late George Harding, Sr. and Doris (Lapointe) Harding, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

Charles was employed as a fish lumper on the New Bedford waterfront for many years until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association, Local 1749.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, visiting the docks of New Bedford, and hanging with his sidekicks James Cundiff III and Miguel Angel Correa, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; two sons, James Cundiff and his wife Paula, and Michael Marques; his siblings, Carol Mendes, Debra Parris, Edward Harding, Edgar Harding, William Harding, and Armand Harding; four grandchildren, Veronica Cundiff, Karissa Cundiff, James Cundiff III, and Justin Rock; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Pereira and Miguel Angel Correa, Jr; three Godchildren, Nicole Lima, Ronald Harding, Jr., and James Howlett; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late George Harding, Robert Harding, Ronald Harding, Rene Harding, Lorraine Harding, Eleanor Cataen, and Barbara Thibeault.
