Obituary

CHICOPEE – Elaine C. (Rabideau) Talbot, 78, of Chicopee, Entered into Eternal Life on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Northampton on August 11, 1941, a beloved daughter of the late William R. and Lillian P. (Lavallee) Rabideau. She was raised in Southwick, lived in Agawam and moved to Chicopee in 1982 where she lived the remainder of her life. She graduated from the former Cathedral High School in Springfield and attended the Massachusetts Career Development Institute where she received her certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed for many years at the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow and retired after many years of service from the Holyoke Geriatric Authority. Elaine was a Third Order of Dominicans, Mother of God Chapter in West Springfield and a member of the Apostolate of the Suffering at Mary’s Farm in Ware. She was a former communicant of the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and Holy Name Church, and most recently was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church, all in Chicopee. She was the Chairperson of the Yearly Rosary Rally out of Lourdes, France from the McKinley Building in Chicopee each year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Jerome C. “Jerry” Talbot, Sr. who was Called Home on May 24, 1992; and her beloved daughter, Bridget Romanowicz who was Called Home on February 9, 2009. She leaves her three loving children, J.M. Talbot of the Boston area, Jerome C. “Jerry” Talbot, Jr. and his companion, Tracey Abbey, of Monson and Renee Talbot and her husband, Kenneth Sprout, of Ashland, WI; her many cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren; her two dear brothers, Raymond Rabideau and his wife, Victoria, and William Rabideau and his wife Jean; her three dear sisters, Patricia Mika, Margaret Souders and her husband, Gerald, and Mariann Kinney and her husband, Raymond; her dear sister-in-law, Eleanor McNulty; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended members of the Talbot and Rabideau families and friends. Elaine wished to express her deepest appreciation for her longtime caregivers, Leah Arnold and Shannon Mann and her “Special Angel”, Keilane Rodriguez who was always there to cheer her up when she was in great pain or to lend a helping hand. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 7:45 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 8, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Please limit your time with her family, face masks are required to enter the funeral home and only ten people are allowed in the funeral home at a time).
