Obituary

Florence E. (Curtin) Parnell, of Weymouth, and formerly of South Boston, died peacefully with her loving family by her side, on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. She was 86.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Shephard) Curtin.
Flo’s family was the center of her life. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Flo was a devout Catholic who worked for the Archdiocese of Boston, as the parish secretary for St. Vincent’s Church in South Boston where she also taught CCD and sang in the choir.
Flo was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence P. Parnell Sr., who died in 2007. They shared 56 years of loving marriage. She was the devoted mother of Lawrence Parnell Jr. and his wife Kathy of Nevada, Charlie Parnell and his wife Susan of Bremerton, Washington, Bob Parnell and his wife Maura of Weymouth, MA and Bruce Parnell and his wife Cindy Forester of Winchester, MA. She is also survived by her brother Neil Curtin and his wife Mary of Michigan as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her children Trudy Cantwell, Flo Jace, Joe Parnell, Derek Parnell, and Billy Parnell, her grandchildren Leslie Jace, Margaret Parnell and Lawrence Parnell III and her siblings Terry Walsh, Mary Curtin, William Curtin and Midge Rash.
Flo will be interred privately at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. A funeral mass will be held at St. Brigid’s Church in South Boston at 11 am on Tuesday June 2, 2020. Friends and family are invited to attend while following social distancing guidelines and wearing face coverings. Capacity is limited to 40% of the church.
