Bradley H. Bennett, 77, of Fairhaven, died February 18, 2006 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of Frances E. "Nancy" (Walsh) Bennett; they were married for 52 years.
Born in Fairhaven, the son of the late Clarence and Margaret (Lawrence) Bennett, he lived in Fairhaven for most of his life. He was a graduate of Fairhaven High School.
Mr. Bennett served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and served eight years in the Naval Reserves. After being discharged from the Service, he spent several years working as an engineer and captain on private yachts. He then worked in a local boatyard before retiring in 1987.
He enjoyed riding his electric scooter around town and family gatherings, especially time spent with his granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Joanne Arena, and her husband C. Marc, of Acushnet, and Peggy Bennett-Lurie, and her husband Dana, of Medfield; 2 granddaughters, Alyssa and Jillian Lurie, both of Medfield; his brother and best friend, Lawrence "Larry" Bennett of Westport; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Mary Goupil.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at 7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-7 PM, prior to the Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
