Windham- Mary Heselton, 66, passed away on Friday May 22nd 2020 after a long courageous battle with Breast Cancer.
Mary grew up in Portland where she also raised her family with her former husband Dale Heselton. She was a caregiver in every sense of the word. She loved being a geriatric CNA and worked at St Joseph’s manner for most of her career. She loved to reminisce and share stories from that time. She was truly selfless, always putting other’s needs before her own; particularly those of her children.
Mary was happiest in the company of her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren. She had a talent for making a simple evening at home a fun event. Mary loved country music, meal planning for celebrations and holidays, and shopping with her sisters.
Mary was proud to be a Breast Cancer Survivor. She was diagnosed for a third time in 2018 and fought with optimism until the very end. She was a brave, strong and resilient woman.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, “Bucky” and “Jean” Elwell, as well as siblings “Bucky” Elwell and Cheryl Bouchard. Mary will be greatly missed by her children – Jean and husband John Downs; Tracy and husband Chris Treubig; Kristy Heselton and partner Brandon Raymond; Mindy and husband Manny Archibald; siblings Janet Farrington, Rusty Elwell and Danny Elwell; grandchildren Scott, Liam, Brisa, Lucia, Riley and Desi; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
The Breast Cancer Coalition of Maine was an amazing support to Mary during her battle. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her name.
