Obituary

On Wednesday, May 20, 2020 Luis “Gerardo” Torres passed away at the age of 55 due to complications of the Covid-19 virus. Gerardo was born In Aibonito, Puerto Rico in 1964 to Martin and Emerita Torres. Gerardo attended school in Puerto Rico at Bonifacio Sánchez Jiménez and the concluded his studies in Boston and lived at Columbia Point. Gerardo has studied at the Hollywood Academic Regional Beauty Academy in Caguas Puerto Rico where he perfected and obtained his masters license, the highest license of a stylist for his professional development in San Juan. Gerardo served as the manager of beauty contestants in the town of Aibonito successfully obtaining triumph and was recognized by Miss Puerto Rico organization. Gerardo also worked as a parade and carnival organizer. He worked as a leader in his community for youth groups from the Catholic Church leading several retreats. Gerardo eventually moved to Boston permanently and started his career as a Stylist and makeup artist. He has worked at many salons all over Boston too numerous to name individually and had a strong following of clients. Gerardo eventually met his partner Sean about 24 or 25 years ago (yup.. still arguing with me) and fell in love. Gerardo loved to travel and besides Puerto Rico of course, some of his favorite trips were to Aruba, Las Vegas and spending time in Maine. Gerardo loved having people around him all the time and having parties and dinners was some of his favorite things to do. Give him a backyard and $20 and he make it come alive with music, food and fun. He loved to cook for everyone and became an excellent chef in my opinion and Heaven must be having one big glorious party right now.

Gerardo is survived by his partner (of 24 or 25 years) Sean Jackson of Roslindale and his beloved dogs Buddy and Tristan, His sisters, Maria Rivera and husband Jose of Dorchester, Gloria Negron of Dorchester, Ada Torres of Roxbury, Carmen Torres and husband Andres Moreno of Dorchester, Ana Torres of Dorchester, Nancy Torres and husband Angel Ortiz of Puerto Rico, His brothers, Victor Torres of Florida, Angel Torres of Maine, Luis Torres of Winthrop and many nieces, nephews, cousins, God children and so many friends and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents Martin and Emerita and two brothers Jose and Hector Torres.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, services held will be private.

Gerardo really wanted to have everyone get together for a celebration of his life when he passed, but due to so many restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
