William P. Galvin, 95 of Salem, NH, died Saturday at the Lawrence General Hospital, following a long illness.
He was born in Boston, MA, the son of the late James & Mary (Gaddis) Galvin. He grew up and was educated in the Boston Schools, graduating from Boston English High School. He also attended MIT, B.U., Lowell University, and the Wentworth Institute.
Formerly of Cambridge and Arlington, MA, he was a long time employee of the Watertown Arsenal in Watertown, MA, where he worked as a chemist. His best times were spent doing crossword puzzles and eating Brigham’s Coffee Ice Cream.
He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine “Gertie” (McPhee) Galvin. He was also a loving father of the late Francis X. Galvin and Anne M. (Galvin) Ramar, and brother of the late Mary (Galvin) Davis.
He is survived by 1 Daughter: Mary & her Husband Donald Norcross of Salem, NH
1 Sister: Patricia & her Husband Doug Racine of New Market, MD
10 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews
Services will be held from the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 9 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA.
