Constance M. (Pelletier) Sanford, 82, of Salem, died April 27, 2020 due to complications from Covid-19.
“Connie” was known for her sense of humor, intelligence, open mind, and love of life. She was born July 21, 1937, and lived for many years in Salem’s “The Point” neighborhood.
She possessed a lifelong love of learning, and delighted in discussing any and all topics with everyone. She was an accomplished pianist, and won a number of prestigious piano competitions in her youth. Connie loved music, dancing, animals, and Sanka.
Despite her declining health, Connie kept alive her joie de vivre, delighting in spending time with family members who visited her at Advinia Care in Salem, where she spent her final days. She fought to keep her youthful spirit alive, taking joy in her children and grandchildren, and fighting to stay as active as possible.
Connie was laid to rest at a private service May 11 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Salem, where her remains joined those of her parents’ in eternal rest. She is survived by her daughters: Roze Malone and her husband Jim Malone; Monique Sanford and significant other Greg; Colleen Sanford and significant other Dominic; Tammy Mejia; Britney Hardin and her fiance Jeremy; Sarah “Chelsea” Hardin and her fiance Anthony. She’s also survived by her sister Carmen Smith and her children Jim, Kathy and Joseph; her brother Anthony Pelletier and his wife Denise; her daughters-in-law Lisa Farmer and Jennifer Kane Sanford; and several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Lucien and Ruby Pelletier; her sisters Patricia and Theresa; her sons Garry Lee Sanford; and Peter Glen Sanford.
Connie also leaves behind her grandchildren, Lucien Tyler and his fiance Rachel; Matthew Sanford; Aimee Sanford; Frankie “Nikko” Mejia and great grandchildren Kayden Mejia and Amias Mejia and Nikko’s fiance Alicia Kaine and her son Braedyn Kaine; grandson Joseph Sanford and his brother Steven; granddaughters Tanya and Jodene and great grandchildren Destiny, Hannah, Skyla and Jada.
