FALL RIVER - Dinasalia "Dina" (Sousa) Medeiros, age 74 of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 as the result of a motor vehicle accident along with her beloved granddaughter Chantel Marie Gould. Born in Capelas, Sao Miguel, Acores, Dina was the beloved wife of Luciano Medeiros and the daughter of the late Hermano E. and Maria Da Luz (Ferreira) Sousa.
Prior to retiring, Dina worked as a machine operator for the former Quaker Mfg. Co. and was a member of Espirito Santo Church. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family here and in Sao Miguel, Acores.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Jose Hermano Medeiros of Sao Miguel, Acores, Elizabeth Roque (partner Emmanuel DeMello) and Iolanda Gould (husband Ross) all of Fall River, and Sandra Medeiros of Sao Miguel Acores; 2 brothers: Afonso Sousa (wife Escolastica) of Somerset, and Laudalino "Larry" Sousa (wife Connie) of Westport; 5 grandsons: Shane Medeiros, Michael Cordeiro, Dennis “DJ” Roque, Ricardo “Rico” Gould and Troy Medeiros all of Fall River, and a granddaughter named in her honor, Dinasalia “Dina” Medeiros of Sao Miguel, Acores; 3 great grandchildren: Aidan & Alayna Gould, and Mia Medeiros; many nieces and nephews. Dina was also the sister of the late Edgardo Sousa (wife Ana) and Venilde Raposo (husband Afonso). She was predeceased by her grandson, Keith Ambrose Jr.
Dina emigrated to the United States in 1975 with her family and began her new life chapter with husband and children in Fall River, where she remained. Dina was completely dedicated to her family. She was a kind, loving, generous woman who would do anything for her children and grandchildren. She was the beloved matriarch of her family, “the rock” they all adored, loved and fondly depended on. She will be missed deeply by all those that loved her.
Due to State Mandated Restrictions, Dina's funeral services will be private for immediate family members. Arrangements are under the direction of the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home.
