FALL RIVER - Joao Hermenegildo, age 88, residence 113 Cory St. Fall River, died Saturday in Fall River at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of Maria (Botelho) Hermenegildo of Fall River. He is survived by 3 Sons: Silverio Hermenegildo of Fall River, Emery Hermenegildo of Stoughton, MA, and Basilio Hermenegildo of Rehoboth, 2 Daughters: Maria C. Braga of Middletown, RI and Delia Medeiros of Swansea, 11 Grandchildren, 10 Great-grandchildren, and Several Nieces and Nephews. He was the brother of the late Manuel Hermenegildo and Delia Peixoto.
Born in Mosteiros, Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Francisco Hermenegildo and the late Maria da Conceicao (Raposa) Hermenegildo. He was a resident of Fall River for 39 years. Before retiring he had worked as a Machine Trimmer for Plymouth Rubber Co. in Canton, MA for 12 years. He was also a member of St. Michael’s Church.
His Funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 North Main Street on Wednesday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, Essex St. at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling Hours Tuesday 5:00-8:00 P.M.
