Obituary

WEBSTER - Julia N. (Lichorowiec) Hanc, 95, died Friday, May 15, 2020 in Countryside Healthcare, Milford, MA after a period of declining health. Her husband of 58 years, Edward P. Hanc, died in 2006.

She leaves a daughter, Barbara A. Anderson and her husband Railton M. Anderson of North Hampton, NH; a son, Michael E. Hanc and his partner Brenda Katz and their children, Rebecca L. Katz and Nicholas C. Katz , all of Hopedale, MA; and several nieces and nephews. Her sister, Jennie Polanik, died in 2017.

She was born on May 30, 1924 in Southbridge, a daughter of Jan and Aniela (Pienta) Lichorowiec and graduated from Mary E. Wells High School in 1942.

She worked as a secretary at the American Optical Company in Southbridge for 8 years, as well as for Cranston Print Works Company in Webster for 20 years, retiring in 1987.

She loved to polka and to travel. She especially enjoyed her numerous trips to Germany and her once-in-a-lifetime trip to Euro Disney, Paris. She was particularly proud of her extensive training and resulting certification as one of the Army Air Force’s (AWS) aircraft recognition observers during World War II.

As a long-time parishioner of Saint Joseph Basilica in Webster, donations in her name, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the General Scholarship Fund at Saint Joseph School, 47 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA 01570.
