Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – William J. “Billy” Shenas, 71, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020 due to complications from multiple sclerosis. Billy was a graduate of Classical High School in Springfield and Boston University. As a lifelong resident of Western Massachusetts, he spent his adult life investing in and maintaining properties in the area. Billy loved golfing and New England sports. He leaves his beloved brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Kelly Shenas of Stuart, FL; his loving nieces, Katrina and Stephanie Shenas of Orlando, FL; his loving nephews, Nickolas Shenas of Holyoke and Brandon Shenas of Mansfield, TX; his beloved cousins, Bill Sotirion of Cumming, GA, Linda Sotirion of Springfield, Jennifer Joyce of East Longmeadow, Leslie Pisano of Belchertown and George Sotirion of Lincroft, NJ; his partner in crime, Billy Skinner of Chicopee; his longtime friend and devoted caretaker, Tammie Hudson of Chicopee; and his dear extended family members and many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, James and Calliope Shenas; his former wife, Jill Hogan; his best friend, Arthur Sotirion; and his loyal companion, Wolfie. Billy was a friend of Bill W. and very grateful for his longtime involvement, service and friendships that developed because of the program. His family would like to thank Baystate Medical Center for the wonderful care they afforded him throughout his illness. His family will receive friends on Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (413-532-9806). The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (Please note that masks must be worn at all times, social distancing must be observed and capacity is limited to 40% per Massachusetts guidelines).
