…WWII Veteran; Diamond Crystal Manager; 95
TEWKSBURY – George A. Flibotte, age 95, a retired Manager at Diamond Crystal, died Saturday, May 16, at Lahey Medical Center, a result of contracting the Covid-19 virus at Windsor Place Assisted Living Center in Wilmington. He was the beloved husband of Ruth G. (Milton) Flibotte, who died in 2000.
George was born in Medford, one of nine children of the late George and Susan (Cottam) Flibotte. He was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School. He enlisted into the Army Air Force during WWII, and served as an ordinance officer in the 45th Air Supply Squadron in England, France, Belgium and later Germany. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal, and earned the Good Conduct Medal, Euro-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, and the Victory Medal.
In 1988, he retired from Diamond Crystal Company’s packaging division in Wilmington, where he had worked his way up to Production Manager during his thirty-seven year career.
George was a faithful member of St. Dorothy’s Church in Wilmington.
He is survived by three children, Deborah Moulton and her husband John of AZ, David Flibotte and his wife Diane (Couture) of Tewksbury, Diana Flibotte and James Andella of Tewksbury; a son-in-law, Daniel Clifford of Wilmington, who was the husband of his late daughter, Donna (Flibotte) Clifford; eight grandchildren, Daniel Clifford Jr, Dean Clifford, Douglas Clifford, Dana Clifford, Jennifer Edson, Christina Murphy, Brittany Long and her husband Greg, and Briana Andella; many great grandchildren; siblings, Richard Flibotte of NH, Barbara Rossi of ME, Hazel “Toady” Longtine of NH, Dolores Woods of GA, Sandra Small of FL; many nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by his siblings, Margaret Bouchard, Joan Leathers, and Robert Flibotte.
Dur to the Covid-19 crisis, funeral services will be private. A memorial and Celebration of Life will be announced when the crisis has ended.
