Obituary

Joseph was a special soul and all those who knew him embraced him. He loved his family and was a devote Catholic. In his earlier years, he attended the Boston Police Cadet Academy, volunteered as a Big Brother and worked at Walter Fernald School in Waltham. He held other various jobs throughout his lifetime. As a teenager he spent his summers at Caddy Camp in New Hampshire. As a young adult he enjoyed playing golf, tennis, squash, playing poker with his friends and going to a night club to dance. Joe, as most people referred to him, was so kind and generous. He was quiet and kept to himself. On most days you would find him in West Medford square at various eating establishments but Dunkin’s was his favorite place. He loved sitting and talking to all the regulars that frequented there. Everyone knew who he was. He enjoyed attending the 4:00 p.m. Mass at Saint Raphael’s church on Saturday’s and would serve as an usher at times. As a young boy he served as an altar boy at St. Raphael’s Church. His religion was very important to him and he always wanted to set a good example for his nieces and nephews who he was so proud of. They will remember him fondly as Uncle JoJo. We love you and will miss you! Our family wants to thank everyone in the West Medford community for being so kind to him. It meant a lot to us knowing people were looking out for him. Thank you to the nurses at CareOne in Wilmington, Lahey Clinic in Burlington and to Diana his caretaker, you truly are angels.
