Israel “Ike” M. Cabana, 79

TEWKSBURY- Israel “Ike” M. Cabana, age 79, died peacefully Tuesday evening February 14, in
Clearwater, FL. He was the beloved husband of the late Althea (Johnson) Cabana who died in
1982. Mr. Cabana was born in North Troy, Vermont on July 17, 1926 a son of the late Louis
Napoleon and Florence (Cote) Cabana.
He moved to Tewksbury in 1954 and raised his family in Tewksbury before retiring to
NH. He worked as a flooring installer and retired from the Union Local 2168 Boston.
He was the former vice commander at the American Legion Tewksbury Post. He was
also a member of the Tewksbury VFW. He served in the US Army during WWII in Hawaii and
the Philippines.
He is survived by a daughter and son in law Patricia and Dennis Shanley of Bedford, NH; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Pamela (Ralphs) of Lowell; step-sons, Jeffery D. and his wife
Patricia Blute, Thomas, James, Jay and William Blute all of Tewkbury; six grandchildren Paul and
Maria Shanley of Epping, NH, Kelly (Shanley) and Phillip Yantzer of CA, Alison Shanley of TX,
Kristen (Cabana) and Chris Borders of Louisiana, David I. and Ryan M. Cabana both of Lowell; six great grandchildren Matthew, Clayton, Kayla, Morgan, Lauren, and Jenna. He is also
survived by a sister in law Veeda (Duff) Cabana of Millis, MA and many nieces and nephews. He
was predeceased by his companion of 20 years, Rose Blute and her son the late Larry Blute; and two
brothers Edward and Wilson Cabana, and a sister, Evelyn (Cabana) Hall.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated
Monday, Feb. 20,in the Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at the Sisters of Mercy Warde Heath
Center Windham NH. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery. Donations to The Sisters of
