Obituary

O’Sullivan, James of Wakefield, previously of Malden, 87 passed away peacefully on May 9th surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Anne (McNelis) of over 58 years. Father of John O’Sullivan and his wife Dawn of Upton, Patricia O’Sullivan of Rollinsford, NH, Brendan O’Sullivan and his wife Gail of Somersworth, NH and Joanne Lima and her husband Mike of Wakefield. Poppy (Grandfather) to Stephany Mistretta and her husband Daniel, Danielle Scaglione and her fiancé Tony Brancato, Taylor O’Sullivan and her fiancé Ryan Krueger, Kiegan, Padraic, Quinn, Brian O’Sullivan and Michael Lima. Great Grandfather to Blake and Cole Mistretta. Also survived by his brother Dan and sister Olive, many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by siblings Sean, Finian, Brendan, Michael, Kathleen, Peg and Kevin.
Born on October 1, 1932 in Athlone, County Westmeath, Ireland, Jim served in the Irish Military before coming to the United States in 1958 where he met his wife Anne in New York and wed in 1961. After moving to Malden, Jim began a career working for Mass Port at the Fish Pier. Jim was passionate about many things, but soccer was number one. At first he was an avid player and then became a referee for the United States Soccer Federation which he continued to do into his early 70’s. He enjoyed spending time and telling stories with family and friends. Jim was always ready to lend a helping hand whether it be remodeling a basement or cutting down trees. Jim was passionate about spending time with his grandchildren and the rest of his Poppy’s Peeps!
Due to COVID -19 Pandemic, a private graveside service will be held on May 13, 2020. A memorial mass will be held at a later date which will be open to family and friends.
