Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Josephine D. (Saliba) Hannoush, 79, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, May 9, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Zahleh, Lebanon on June 20, 1940, a beloved daughter of the late Sarkis and Rose Saliba. She was raised in Lebanon and immigrated to the United States in 1978, settling in Springfield. Active in her Catholic faith, Josephine was a communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, “teta” to her cherished grandchildren and loving sister who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, David E. Hannoush; her three devoted children, Danielle Moran and her husband, Dr. Thomas Moran; and Eli Hannoush, all of Springfield; and Rolla Marinesi and her husband, Joe, of Palmer; her six cherished grandchildren whom she adored, John, Michael and Anna Moran, and Adrianna, Alexandra and Alicia Marinesi; her dear brother, Jean Saliba of Zahleh, Lebanon; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of her family in Lebanon and the United States. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her two dear brothers, Shaheen and Elias Saliba; and her two dear sisters, Souad and Marie Saliba. Due to the current circumstances, her Graveside Service will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118.
