Obituary

George A. E. Faber, 88, of New Bedford died Thursday February 16, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Pearl L. (Hammond) Faber.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late George P. and Beatrice S. (Williamson) Faber, he was raised in Dartmouth before returning to New Bedford where he lived for many years.

He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

Mr. Faber was formerly employed as a foreman for Hypro-Tool of Continental Screw Company until his retirement after 45 years.

He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and attended New Bedford Textile Institute. He was Deputy Chief of the New Bedford Civil Defense Rescue Squad for many years. He was a volunteer and first aid instructor for the American Red Cross, New Bedford Chapter, and a zone representative of the International Management Club.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Dianne P. Gardner of New Bedford and Suzanne C. Faber of Biddeford Pool, Maine; two sisters, Ruth Hall of Marion and Hazel Poole of Romney, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Marion Wordell and Edna Erickson.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday February 21, 2006 at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday February 20, 2006 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Red Cross, 995 Rockdale Ave., New Bedford, MA 02740.
