Andre M. Gouws was born in Potchefstroom, South Africa on August 3, 1955. He attended school and worked in South Africa before moving to the United States in 1993 with his wife Chanie. They lived in Lexington, Kentucky while he attended the University of Kentucky Pharmacy School to obtain his Pharm D, to add to his numerous doctoral degrees. His daughter, Ellen was born in 1996. Together, the family lived in Kentucky, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, and finally Washington, where he has been for the past 5 years. He worked as the Director of Pharmacy for Astria Sunnyside Hospital, where he also served on committees and taught students. Andre passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on April 25, 2020. André is survived by his wife Chanie, daughter Ellen, and sisters, Oliva Curlewis and Judy Kay, and numerous close friends and extended family. His family and friends will remember him by his infectious laughter and loving personality.
The family hopes to hold a memorial service at a later date.
