CHICOPEE – Patricia A. (Desmarais) Kearns, 82, of Keystone Commons in Ludlow, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home on Grattan Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on April 8, 1938, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph S. Desmarais, Jr. and Gertrude A. (Duffy) Desmarais. She was raised in Chicopee, lived in West Springfield and East Sandwich, and has been a resident of Ludlow since 2013. She was employed for many years as an executive secretary for the Milton Bradley Corporation and later worked for her son, Rick, at Oak Specialists Furniture in West Springfield and Belchertown. She enjoyed ceramics, arts and crafts and arranging photo albums. She also enjoyed bowling, playing Yahtzee and was always ready for a good game of cards. She spent many hours at Keystone Commons playing bingo, attending movie time, coloring, and gathering with her friends for a glass of wine at cocktail hour, and often enjoyed a nice glass of scotch with her family. She was a loving woman who always had a smile and loved giving “Mama Kearns” kisses to her family and friends. Most especially she loved spending time with her family and her cherished grandson, Ryan. She was a former communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and a communicant of Saint Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield. She leaves to cherish her memory her three loving children, Richard J. “Rick” Kearns and his wife, Wendy, of Belchertown, Suzanne M. Kearns of West Springfield, and Cheryl A. In addition, she will be sadly missed by her faithful granddog Halo. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her former husband, Richard M. Kearns; her dear sister, Joyce M. Dowd; and her close friend at Keystone Commons, Maureen. Due to the current circumstances, her burial will be private at Sainte Rose Cemetery in Chicopee.
