Retired Boston Municipal Police Officer Thomas F. "Tom" Keating, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, May 4, 2020 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 77 years of age.

Tom was born in Boston on January 30, 1943, a son of the late Henry W. Keating and Lillian (Campbell) Taylor and her husband George Taylor. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated form Charlestown High School. Tom enlisted into the United States Army on October 1, 1962 and served his country with honor and courage during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on September 30, 1964 with the rank of Private First Class. Tom worked as a welder in the Charlestown Navy Yard for several years and then as a Municipal Police Officer for the City of Boston for over 40 years until his retirement in 2018. Tom was an avid Boston sports fan watching the Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox. He was a member of the Halligan Club of Charlestown and the Somerville City Club.

Tom is the beloved husband of the late Margaret (McInnis) Keating. He is the loving brother of Mary Jo Keating of Charlestown, Donald Keating and his wife Barbara of Charlestown, Patricia Machado of Everett, and the late James "Buddy" Keating, and William Keating. He is the Brother-in-law of Daniel McInnis and his wife Elaine of Malden. Tom is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations maybe made in Tom's name to the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club, 15 Green St. Charlestown, Mass. 02129

DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, TOM'S FUNERAL SERVICES AND BURIAL AT THE VETERANS ADMINISTRATION NATIONAL CEMETERY IN BOURNE WILL BE PRIVATE.

Tom's family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors and staff at the Chelsea Soldier's Home and the nurses and doctors on Bigelow 14 at the Massachusetts General Hospital for their special care to Tom during his illness.
