Roger M. Levesque, 91, of Woonsocket died Friday May 1, 2020 at The Friendly Home.
Born and raised in Manville he was a son of the late Albert and Alma (Jobin) Levesque. He was a resident of the Woonsocket and Cumberland area for most of his life.
Mr. Levesque served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Roger was employed in the local textile industry in his early years and also worked for National Cash Register Company. For several years he lived and worked in Washington D.C. for the Patterson family as a butler and chauffeur. Roger’s time in domestic service gave him first hand a glimpse of what can be called a true “Downton Abbey” experience.
Roger loved life and those who he had the joy and privilege of meeting on his life’s journey. A cheerful and outgoing gentleman, Roger was fortunate to travel extensively, most often with a group of good friends. Roger could stage a one-man performance anywhere and was a true comedian. Roger could cut quite a number on the dance floor.
He was a longtime member of the St. Agatha Senior Citizens Club.
Roger will be remembered for his kind, loving and caring nature.
Roger is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. He was the brother of the late Joseph, Armand, Florent, Henri, Albert and Raymond Levesque, Juliette Boucher, Antoinette Bernier, Delia Levasseur and Albertha Desaulniers.
In accordance with current public health guidelines Roger’s funeral service and burial will be private. Roger will be laid to rest at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter on a day and time when such gatherings will be permitted.
