Obituary

CHICOPEE – Jeannette M. (Paquette) Arpin, 100, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, April 30, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Day Brook Village tragically from the Covid-19 Virus surrounded by all of the memories that she loved and cherished. She was born at home on Britton Street in the Fairview section of Chicopee on August 28, 1919, a beloved daughter of the late William and Eva (Blain) Paquette. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. She was employed for many years as a seamstress locally and had also worked as a Floor Supervisor at the former Raquelle’s Garment Factory in Springfield. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee where she served on the Parish Council and was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality of the Church. She was an active volunteer at the Chicopee Senior Center where she started a Mahjongg Club. She enjoyed playing cribbage at the South Hadley Senior Center and always looked forward to playing cribbage with her nieces every week. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Leo Arpin who was Called Home on August 27, 1992; and her loving son, Reverend Robert L. Arpin who was Called Home on May 30, 1995. She leaves her many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Arpin and Paquette families; and her many dear friends. In addition to her parents, her husband and her son, she was predeceased by her dear brother, William Paquette and his wife, Ida; and her three dear sisters, Edna Hamel and her husband, Leo, Dorothy Rondeau and her husband, Edward, and Lorraine T. Goyette and her husband, Ulysses “Ray” Goyette. Due to the current circumstances, her burial will be private at Sainte Rose Cemetery in Chicopee. A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Anne Church in Chicopee at a later date to be announced. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
