Obituary

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – Normand J. LaFontaine, 72, of New Port Richey, FL and a former longtime resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, April 23, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on July 14, 1947, a beloved son of the late Normand and Ruth A. (LeVesque) LaFontaine. He was raised in East Hartford, Connecticut and graduated from Andover Academy. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps and attained the rank of Private. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and the Combat Action Ribbon. Norm was employed for many years as a long distance tractor trailer driver and was a sub-contractor for the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Elder Council 69, the Moose Family Center, the Tigers Athletic Club, the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849 and a life member of the VFW. He leaves his loving wife and soul mate, Mary A. (McClinton) LaFontaine; his four loving children, Denise LaFontaine, Ronnie LaFontaine and his wife, Renee, Kelly Kirk and her husband, Brian, and Normand J. LaFontaine, Jr. and his wife, Jessica; his ten cherished grandchildren; his cherished great-granddaughter; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his cherished grandson, Thomas J. Bobala. His burial will be at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
