Obituary

Mary T. (McMahon) Baker age 88, of East Bridgewater, died peacefully surrounded by devoted family on April 28, 2020 at her home under hospice care.

Mary was born and raised in Brockton, the second oldest of 10 children of the late Frederick and Rita (Cruise) McMahon. She was a 1949 graduate of Brockton High School. She lived many of her grown years between East Bridgewater, Onset, and Florida.

She was the loving wife of the late Harry G. Baker. Together with their daughters, they passionately owned and operated The Lobster Hut in Brockton for over 30 years. She enjoyed the connections with staff and regulars that came through those doors over the many years.

She would remind those around her about the beauty of life. She had an eye for art, a humor to light up the room, and a contagious kindness. She would always take a moment to let you know how important you were.

Mary enjoyed winters in Florida, traveling with family, and being a member of Little Harbor Golf Club in Wareham. More importantly, she spent her time constantly being surrounded by her family whether it be Sunday dinners, working alongside her daughters, or cheering on her grandkids.

Mary is survived by her four devoted daughters Terri Holt and her husband Robert, Patricia Hendrickson and her husband Mark, Linda Kingman all of East Bridgewater and Carol Baker-Santos and her husband Jay Santos of Plymouth. She also leaves nine grandchildren Caitlyn Holt, Kelsey Holt, Ryan Hendrickson, Jason Imlach, Gary Kingman, Keri Kingman, Mikayla Kingman, Danielle Murphy, Jessica Baker Santos and five great grandchildren Riley Murphy, Cole Murphy, Melody Hendrickson, Colton Kingman and Kellan Imlach. She leaves her sisters Rita Lyman and her husband Al, Patricia McMahon-Currie and her fiancé Ron Poliseno all of Brockton and the late John, Paul, Frederick, James, Peter, Joseph McMahon and Ann O’Brien, as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her sisters-in-law Gloria, Catherine and Judy McMahon and her forever friend Louise Gillis of Onset.

A private burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery alongside her late husband, Harry. A celebration of her life will be held in the near future. For the time being, spread kindness and be safe. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Mary’s name to the National MS Society, Team Cure for Carol, PO Box 91891, Washington, DC 20090-1891.
