New Bedford, John Gomes passed away February 11, 2006 at home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Jean (Costa) Gomes of New Bedford, MA. He was the father of Isabel Thomas, Timothy Gomes, Robin Voisine, Pamela Martin. Shawn Gomes, Tammy Gomes and Rebecca Gomes all of New Bedford, MA. He was the brother of Belfred Lomba of Daly City, CA., Antone Gomes of Acushnet, Ma., Manuel Gomes of New Bedford, MA., Amelia Lopes of East Hartford, CT., Dorothy Dolka of New Bedford, MA., Delores Gomes, and Shirley Pina both of New Bedford, MA. He was the brother of the late Albert Gomes and Alice Poirier. He was also survived by 5 Grandchildren, and 3 Great-grandchildren, and several Nieces and Nephews.
Mr. Gomes was the son of the late Joaquim and Mary (Freitas) Gomes. He was a retired truck driver for Tischon Fish Plant.
A funeral service was held at Perry Funeral Home Wednesday February 15 2006. Burial was at Pine Grove Cemetery.
