Obituary

FALL RIVER – Mario Antone Aguiar, 49 of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 23, 2020. Born in Fall River, the son of Maria Ivalina (Ramos) Aguiar and the late Antonio M. Aguiar. He attended B.M.C. High School, and was previously employed by Tom Giosiso and R. Oliveira.

Mario had a zest for life. He was known for his quick wit and having both an infectious laugh and smile. He was also strong, opinionated, and definitely not a push over. He was good at reading people as he repeatedly said: “he could smell a con a mile away”. Mario was a great friend, dependable and a man of his word. He often helped friends in need. Mario lived by the motto: “If I can’t help you, I won’t hurt you”. He was however, not one to be taken advantage of, especially as he had zero patience.

Behind Mario’s macho appearance, he was sensitive. He wasn’t afraid to show his emotions. It was particularly evident when he spent time with daughter, Sophia. Their bond was unbreakable. She was his number one priority in life. He enjoyed watching her practice her dance moves and gymnastic skills. They also both shared a passion for sweets, especially chocolate ice cream.

He loved spending time with family, and being the life of the party. Mario enjoyed working out, attending concerts, spending time outdoors and loved to travel, especially to Florida where he had hoped to retire someday. He also loved listening to all genres of music, especially Lionel Richie and Leonardo.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter Sophia Aguiar, fiancée Lucinda Arruda, brother Vasco Aguiar and sister in law Andrea Aguiar, sister Helen Aguiar and brother in law Henry Aguiar, nephew Nathan Aguiar (and his girlfriend Jessica Desnoyers), nieces Tanya Aguiar (and her fiancé Jay Silva), Kaelyn Aguiar, Hayley Aguiar and Ava Aguiar, great nieces Khloe Godwin, Maddie and Nina Silva. Several aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

A MEMORIAL MASS FOR MARIO WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, APRIL 24, 2021 AT 10:00 A.M. IN ST. MARY'S CATHEDRAL, SPRING ST., FALL RIVER.
