Obituary


CORNISH- Gone to Jesus his Savior- James E. Taylor of Cornish at the age of 91 went home to be

with the Lord on April 24, 2020, predeceased by daughter Carol Taylor and stepson Kevin Rancourt.



He was born on April 15, 1929, the son of George E. Taylor and Laura Hawks Taylor. He

graduated from South Portland High School in 1948. He worked at his dad’s drug store: Taylor

Drug on Rt. 1 Thornton Heights, South Portland for 4 years. He joined the South Portland Police

Dept. in 1952. He married Beverly Colman in 1955. Divorced in 1974 remarried to Simone Rancourt in may of 1976 James retired from the department in 1978.



After retirement, he worked for Maietta Construction, then J.E. Gould Pharmaceutical, and

then on to security at the Maine Mall. In his younger years he played golf and was in several

tournaments. He was into skiing and was part of the start of the Down East Ski Club: was a

charter member and took trips to Canada for skiing. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, he also

enjoyed swimming into his later years at Long Beach, Sebago where his parents built a camp

there in his early childhood.



He is survived by his wife Simone Cote Taylor of Cornish of 44 years of marriage. Also

daughter Janice Roszka of Standish, Laurie Wells and husband Brad of Cumberland and

James C and wife Kim Taylor of Eagle, Colorado, a stepson Eugene Rancourt and fiance

Angela of Windham, three granddaughters, Heather Roszka, Melisa Roszka and Jamie


Roszka of Florida, three grandsons, Taylor Wells, Braden Wells of Cumberland and Cameron

Taylor of Colorado, three step grandsons, Nicholas DePalmer of California, Kevin Rancourt

and fiance Samantha of Windham and Paul Rancourt of Windham. A brother William Isola of

Gardner, Mass. Three great grandchildren, Reily Perry of Standish, Natasha Roszka and

Jaimes’ daughter, step great grandson Landon Rancourt, nieces Jane Huard of California

and Mary Lou Marony of Fairfield. A nephew George Thurlow of Muskegan, MI

Viewing and burial was private amongst the family due to the current COVID 19 restrictions.

A celebration of life service will be held when gathering restrictions are lifted.

James was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Westbrook.
