Obituary

Isabel (Pereira) D'Oliveira, a longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, April 23, 2020 after a 14 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was 85 years of age.

Isabel was born in Ponta Delgado in São Miguel, Azores, a daughter of the late Alfredo Pereira and Maria (Da Conceição Benevides) Pereira. She grew up in Ponta Delgado until she was 23 when her family moved to the North End of Boston. In 1964 Isabel bought a house on Lexington Ave in Charlestown next to her cousins. Isabel worked as a seamstress for Priscilla's of Boston from 1957 to 1973 and then again in the late 80's into the 90's. From the late 70's until 1988 she worked at the sandwich counter in the Green Store in Charlestown. She was a skilled seamstress and it seemed like everyone in Charlestown would come to her house for alterations. She also seemingly knew everyone since, when grocery shopping with her family, they couldn't get through the store without her talking with at least 10 people. Isabel was a warm caring person who was a friend to all. He greatest joy in life was her family.

Isabel was the beloved wife of the late Cesar A. D'Oliveira. She is the devoted mother of Elizabeth D'Oliveira and her husband Johnny Lam. She is the loving grandmother of Alexander and Isabelle.
