Obituary


Shirley M. Canada, a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully, April 23, 2020, at the Medford Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at the age of 92. Born in Woburn she was one of twelve children of the late Reginald and Mary A. (Finley) Canada.

Shirley was raised and educated in Woburn and was a 1945 graduate of Woburn High School. She worked for many years as a talented assembler prior to her retirement. As a young lady, Shirley enjoyed traveling with family and friends to Ft. Devens, to visit with some of her brothers who were in the service during WWII. Together they enjoyed the dances and entertainment during that time. Shirley was a woman with a strong faith and volunteered many years teaching Sunday School at St. John's Baptist Church in Woburn. Over the years Shirley enjoyed traveling and was fortunate enough to have traveled much of the United States. She enjoyed trips to different casinos, loved to use her talents sewing and knitting different thing for family and friends. Shirley was also a veracious reader and loved crossword puzzles. One of her greatest joys was music and compiling an extensive record collection throughout her life. She will be greatly missed.

Shirley was the cherished sister of Thomas Canada of GA, Kenneth Canada of CA, James, Nancy, and Janet Canada all of Woburn, the late Wendell and William Canada, Cynthia Fitchett, Daniel, Richard and Gerald Canada. Loving aunt of Terri Hernandes and her family of Woburn, Darnell Canada of Boxford and further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family.

Due to the current health pandemic funeral services will be private. It has been requested that contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Service of Woburn.
