BUXTON - Helen "Joan" Berry, passed away at her home on April 22, 2020, with her family by her side. She was born in Hollis, a daughter of S. Roger and Inez Leavitt Carll. Joan graduated from S.D. Hanson High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart Philip P. Berry on January 1, 1953. Together they raised 4 children and built a successful family plumbing business. Joan was an active member of the Buxton community as a softball coach, serving as chairperson of the school board, as well as an active participant in town elections for many years. She enjoyed Bingo, bird watching, gardening and photography. Above all else, Joan was an avid Yankees fan, cheering for her team favorite Derek Jeter and later Aaron Judge. Joan was predeceased by her husband Philip of 51 years, and her parents. She is survived by two brothers, Roger L. and James D. Carll. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. At her request, there will be a graveside service at a later date when it is safe to gather.
