CHELMSFORD—K. Doris (Howard) (Reardon) Sullivan, 92 years old, a former resident of North Tewksbury and originally of Lowell, died Sunday, February 12th, at the Sunny Acres Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Francis D. Reardon, former head of the English Department at LHS, who died in 1961, and the late Daniel F. Sullivan, former state representative and assistant door keeper of the State House, who died in 1969.
She was born in Lowell, on June 19, 1913, a daughter of the late James A. and Catherine C. (Smith) Howard. She graduated from Sacred Heart Grammar School, Lowell High School, Class of 1930, and Simmons College, Class of 1934.
Mrs. Sullivan worked in the Provol Marshal at Fort Devens; the Social Security Administration and as an executive secretary in the Biological Sciences Department of U Mass Lowell. She also worked as a substitute teacher at Lowell Commercial College and Lowell High School.
She was a long time communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and more recently of St. Robert Bellarmine Church, in West Andover. She was a former member of the Seton Guild, the Holy Rosary Sodality, the League of Catholic Women, and a charter member of the Merrimack Valley Simmons Club.
She is survived by her children: K. Eleanor (Reardon) Sullivan, of Lowell; Maureen Reardon Gervais, and her husband Stephen L. Gervais, of Lowell; and James F. Reardon, of Dracut; her step-children: Maureen (Sullivan) Naze, of Florida; Imelda (Sullivan) and Robert Jurgen of Andover; David and Judith (Rogers) Sullivan, of Rye Beach, NH; and John J. Sullivan, of Lowell; grandchildren: Dennis and Judy Sullivan, of Tyngsboro; Michael and Sandra Sullivan, of Lowell; Daniel and Deborah Sullivan, of Kentucky; Timothy and Janet Sullivan, of Virginia Beach, VA: Katherine and John Kuczek, of Lowell; David and Rebecca Sullivan, of Dracut; Stephen and Alison Gervais, of Lowell; Michael Gervais, of Lowell and John and Jennifer Gervais, of Groton; Thomas Jurgen, Dianne and Jack Bourque, of Bradford; Mark and Catherine Jurgen, of Tewksbury; Scott and Kim Sullivan, of Newbury; Timothy and Katie Sullivan, of Marblehead; Patrick and Arianna Sullivan, of New York, NY; Christian, Chelsea and Tyler Sullivan; Marybeth, Sean and Eric Naze; of Florida; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Mary E. Fennessey, of North Andover; and Constance and Paul Durkin, of Lowell; 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother-in-law of the late Daniel F. Sullivan, Jr., and Susan (Russell) Sullivan, and the great grandmother of the late Daniel Boehm Sullivan.
Friends may call from 9 to 10 AM on Wednesday, February 15th at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38), Lowell. Her Funeral Mass to follow Wednesday at 11 AM at ST. ROBERT BELLARMINE CHURCH, Haggetts Pond Road, Andover. Burial in St Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
