Obituary

HOLDEN: Mary Monica Miner, 69, died Thursday, April 16, 2020 at UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus, from complications due to the current Coronavirus.

Her partner of 35 years, Sandra L. Mayes, a well-known Worcester attorney, died on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2012 after being stricken ill on Dec. 11th at the Worcester Court House.

She leaves her daughter, Susan S. Mayes of Holden; and her beloved nieces and nephews and their families. As a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester, she also leaves her many friends and fellow congregants with whom she shared a beloved community.

She was born and raised in Covington, KY, daughter of the late James R. and Susan H. (VanBerg) Miner. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate.

Mary Monica worked many years as an attorney for Community Legal Aid in Worcester.
She was an active member of the Refugee Ministry, Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, and SNAP Advocacy Teams at her church.

Due to the current pandemic, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester, 90 Holden St. There are no calling hours. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family.
