Obituary

Mr. George R. Laverriere, 96, of Salem, NH, passed away at Cedar View nursing home in Methuen, on Monday, April 13, 2020. The son of the late Frank and Alice (Parent) Laverriere he was born in Lawrence and was an area resident all his life. Mr. Laverriere served honorably in the United States Navy during WWII, as a radar man on board the USS Minneapolis, and the USS Henry A. Wiley. He earned the Asiatic-Pacific Theater medal, Liberation of the Philippines medal, and the WWII Victory medal along with many other awards. Upon returning home he worked as a furniture mover. He was a member and past commander of the VFW post 8349 in Methuen, MA, and was very involved in supporting the military. Mr. Laverriere loved to spend time with his family and friends. He is the widower of Adele (Pierog) Laverriere and Lois (Bonin) Laverriere, he is also pre-deceased by two sons-in-law; Robert LeBlanc and Robert Boudelais. two brothers; Roland Laverriere, Philip Laverriere, two sisters; Mable Packard and Marion LeRiche. Mr. Laverriere is survived by four sons; Reo, Robert Laverriere and his wife Paula, William Laverriere, Thomas Laverriere and wife Donna, and Michael Laverriere and his wife Carol; two daughters; Carol LeBlanc and Susan Bourdelais. There are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
